Leap Day William

I was planning to wear this outfit tomorrow, but then I remembered last week's episode of 30 Rock. If you haven't seen it yet, you should watch it online, as it is a.) insane b.)awesome.  Anyway, the premise of the episode is that "Leap Day" is a major holiday, complete with it's own iconic leap day movie, it's own mascot - Leap Day William, and it's own leap day colors that you wear (blue and yellow). So I threw on my yellow toy watch and tomorrows outfit, and called it good!

Cowl - crocheted by me
Cardigan - Old Navy
Dress - Marc by Marc Jacobs
Watch - from one of those $.50 machines at the grocery store
Bangles - thrifted
Tights - Target
Shoes - MIA

Happy Leap Day! I'm kinda nerdily excited about having a bonus day!

Light bright

Blouse - thrifted vintage (handmade)
Skirt - thrifted vintage (no tags)
Bangles - thrifted, garage sales, etc
Watch - from a $.50 toy machine at grocery store
Tights - Target
Shoes - Bakers

Shirt bow:

Loads of bangles and toy watch (courtesy of my boyfriend who bought it out of one of those toy machines  at the grocery store for $.50... that's some love, there. Screw you Kay Jewelers, Jared, etc.)

It is snowing here. Potentially a lot. It was so pretty and fluffy and looking like a serene snowglobe this morning... and then I realized I was two minutes late for when when I'm supposed to be out the door to run off to the bus, but the snow covered all the ice on the sidewalks and roads and I almost wiped out four times. Not so serene and pretty any more (and don't worry, I was wearing snow boots not those heels - if I fall down on the ice in heels you don't have to feel bad for me because I deserve it). Eh, oh well, its almost March! It's almost time for baseball and bikes! Whoo!

Black-n-blue

Hat - thrifted
Oxford - thrifted little boys Cherokee
Vest - thrifted (no tags)
Mickey Mouse necklace - little boutique in Seoul, Korea
Jeans - Gap
Heels - Simply Vera

I had a pretty relaxing weekend. I went to the American Swedish Institute on Saturday with Nate, my mom (who is in town visiting), my sister and her baby (who thankfully behaved/slept the whole time). I'd never been there before and it was really neat, especially seeing the hundreds of Dala horses. I also played several trivia games, watched Crazy, Stupid Love and tried a bunch of new, fancy beers. I watched a bit of the Oscars but since I haven't really seen any of the movies, I got bored pretty fast. Though I'm excited to look at all the dresses today!

Emma, Emma, Bo Bemma

Definitely getting an "Emma Pillsbury" vibe off this outfit today... Preppy? Check. Bright colors? Check. Cardigan? Check. Bow? Check. Matchy-matchy? Check. Emma, all the way! I even wear surgical gloves sometimes, though mine are necessary for my job not due to OCD germaphobia stuff. I love germs.

Tie blouse - vintage Bryn Mawr (via Seoul Folk Flea Market)
Cardigan - thrifted Ann Taylor Loft
Skirt - thrifted Eileen Fisher
Tights - Target
Shoes - Bakers

Actually, I'm waaaaay behind on Glee this season. I have a love/hate relationship with the show and just haven't bothered to watch it in months. But still, no spoilers! One day I will be bored and need something to watch on the treadmill and then I'll catch up! Currently (well, not this second, just in general) I'm watching the first season of the US remake of Shameless on the treadmill and I really like it! I'm one of those people who holds shows hostage and only lets myself watch them while I exercise. I love running and once I start I'm so glad I did, but mustering up the motivation to run immediately after work is sometimes difficult. But I will NEVER be one of those people who gets up at 5am and exercises before work so it's my only option and it works for me (usually!)

P.S. It's been a while since I dressed like a walking hot dog, so here ya go. Whoo!

Lumberjill

Necklace - thrifted vintage
Tank - Target
Wool jacket - thrifted The Woolrich Woman
Bangles - thrifted
Black watch - Billabong
Green watch - thrifted vintage
Jeans - Gap
Heels - Simply Vera

Yes, I know the time on the two watches is different. I have my Michael Kors watch that I wear a lot, but the other watches I own, I stop them when I'm not wearing them so they aren't just using the battery sitting in a drawer for weeks between wearings. So I just set them when I wear them. It only takes a few seconds and saves me from having to get the batteries replaced. Sweet. The black leather one is an old Billabong one from back in my snowboarder days and it has a dark brown and light brown strap that came with it as well! I found the green one at a thrift store for fifty cents. It has skiers on the strap, ice skaters on the face, and an ice skate that rotates around for the second hand. It didn't work when I bought it but figured it was worth the risk for fifty cents. I found a new battery on Amazon for $1.25 and now it works! I also have similar ones I bought the same day, one with tennis players and one with horse racing. Amazing.

Not a Flamingo

I've had this swan sweater for years now. I seriously did a little dance when I found in my local Goodwill. And it's a good excuse to wear a lot of pink today, after a very grey day yesterday (OMG, so much accidental rhyming.) I used to hate pink and owned like nothing pink (I think it's the remnants of trying to distinguish myself from my sister as a child. She LOVED pink and I got all her hand-me-downs so I decided to HATE pink.) But I must be over it because I'm starting to see a bit more pink creeping into my wardrobe.

Glasses - Prada
Sweater - thrifted vintage (no tags) (previously worn 1, 2, 3)
Pants - thrifted Banana Republic (altered by me from long flares)
Socks - Target
Shoes - Bakers

I felt the need to randomly round the corners of the detail shot because the photo was a little too "I just took a photo of my own boobs" for my taste.

Dark & Stormy

Scarf - thrifted
Sweater - Old Navy (10+ years ago)
Skirt - Ryu (via modcloth gift certificate)
Tights - Target
Shoes - MIA

I went to Nate's hometown of Marshall, MN this past weekend for his mom's birthday. Since it takes 6 hours to get to my parents house, the 3 hour drive there seemed short by comparison. It was fun just hanging around with his family, playing a million board games all weekend. Nate and I went out one afternoon to play Skee-Ball in a local dive bar. I haven't played in years, it was awesome!

I had yesterday off work for President's Day and watched my nephew Henrik for a bit (though he was super crabby since he got two immunizations earlier in the day and was due for a nap and refused to just give in to the tired and go to sleep!) You can't reason with a four month old, though. Then it started snowing and I abandoned all my plans to go thrifting and go to the grocery store. Any time it snows even the tiniest amount, traffic gets insane. Not worth it, even for 50% off at the thrift stores!

Gina. Orangina.

Sweater - thrifted Sigrid Olsen
Dress - thrifted Banana Republic
Watch - Michael Kors
Tights - Cynthia Rowley
Shoes - MIA

Ooooh!  This cardigan came with bedazzled buttons!

Did anyone actually have a Bedazzler? I feel like it was something I wanted around 5th grade or so, because I obviously wanted to rhinestone all my jeans and t-shirts and probably my face if I could have. I'm glad I never got it, it would have made the photos from that era all the more unfortunate looking. I still enjoy a good rhinestone, just not on EVERYTHING.

Sparkle Motion

Glitter sweater - thrifted Express
Polo - from when I was a bev cart girl at a golf course
Tie - thrifted vintage
Pants - thrifted (no tags)
Shoes - MIA

Oooh, I am made of sparkles! And look how pretty it is when I accidentally take a blurry photo!

The blurry one reminds me of all those inspirational tumblr pictures with random quotes and motivational sayings on them. Some of them are cute but a lot of them are just ridiculous. So I made you some ridiculous (and rude) ones...

No, not YOU, dear blog readers. YOU have fine haircuts and are excellent dancers, I'm sure! Sorry, I'm a snarky bastard... what can I say? I felt like making glitter insults today. The heart wants what the heart wants. And my heart wants to give your heart a complex.

My funny Valetine(s)

Fur collar - thrifted vintage
Brooches - thrifted
Camel hair blazer - thrifted
Jeans - Gap
Shoes - Tracy Reese

As promised, here are the ridiculous Valentines I made for Nate (the left side is the front of the card and the right side is the inside of the card.)

STDs! Comedy gold!

Ok, domestic abuse is obviously not funny, but I couldn't resist...

I have to preface this one by saying that Nate and I are (embarrassingly) addicted to Walker, Texas Ranger. Um, it's so hilariously terrible and silly and we watch it constantly and just laugh our asses off. Alex is Walker's girlfriend and the district attorney and highly incompetent.

I also drew him one more, that is just dozens of drawings of all our inside jokes, but I won't show you that one as a.) it would not make any sense to you b.)some of them are highly inappropriate, when out of context. Toodles! Hope you all had a fabulous Hallmark Holiday!

Hearts and crap

These pants were very long flare legged corduroys when I found them at a $5 bag sale (so they cost less than $1). I decided to turn them into cropped skinnies and they turned out perfect, if I do say so myself.

Glasses - thrifted vintage, lenses replaced
Cardigan - thrifted vintage  Marella Knits
Tank - little boys Fruit of the Loom
Corduroy pants - thrifted Banana Republic, altered by me
Shoes - Bakers

Yes, it's Valentine's Day. I'm not usually into all the hearts and flowers and crap, (though I do love my two vintage Waechtersbach heart mugs that hang out on my desk at work:)

One is for water and one is full of writing implements... and a fork because you never know when an eating emergency will occur. Regardless, I'm actually excited for Valentine's this year. Nate and I are making fondue and just hanging out. He doesn't love the mushy hearts thing either (though I am making him a rather ridiculous Valentine which I will show you tomorrow.) So, Happy Hearts and Crap Day everyone!

Captain Polkadots

Hair scarf - thrifted
Blouse - thrifted Kenneth Cole Reaction
Cardigan - Old Navy
Necklace - thrifted
Cropped pants - Marni (secondhand from The Garment District in Boston)
Shoes - Rampage

When I found this Kenneth Cole blouse at a thrift store last year, I almost didn't buy it. It's super thin, so it's sheer, which I thought would make it hard to wear. But it's proved to be quite versatile, I love the little pop of graphic polka dots it can add to an outfit. And because it's so thin, it layers awesome. (As always you can click on the photos to go to my flickr if you want the outfit details.)

I had another awesome weekend. I went to a first birthday party (adorable!), watched two movies (Drive and 50/50), went out for sushi and burgers, played Trivial Pursuit, and ventured over to St Paul to see a local band. Not too shabby!
