F for Effort

Whoa dudes, I fell way behind with the six year wrap-up and randomly playing hooky from work - so here we go. A classic photo dump.

This day was super rainy, which meant I didn't bike to work so I wore a maxi skirt - generally a biking no-no. It rained for like 24 hours straight. It made me want to stay home and nap but I didn't.

I am hoping this was the last cold day. It was only in the 40's and it was super annoying! It's mid May! Nate picked me up from work and we looked at three houses. Two of which were not good and one which had accepted an offer an hour before we got there. House hunting is so frustrating!

Woo! Tuesday - a very warm and bikeable day! It was like 78 degrees and it was glorious! Then I had to go waitress until 11pm. Boo.

Ok, now that that is out of the way, we'll go back to regularly scheduled blog programming. Whatever that is.

Friday, Nate and I got up at 5 a.m. to go to a concert. Yep, I'm serious. We took the day off from work and then got up earlier than ever. It was a blast though. There's a local public radio station here (The Current) that is amazing and their morning show was celebrating it's 5th Anniversary.

J Roddy Walston and the Business played a free show! It was AMAZING! I've never had my face melted off by rock at 7:20am but it was so much fun! I've been dying to see them live but the only gig they had in MN lately was as an opening band. As soon as I found out they were playing, I took the day off and so did Nate! Wooooooo!

The brewery Nate and I vistited on our fake honeymoon put out a beer in collaboration with the radio station, so it was their beer launch party too. Yes, we drank beer at 8am (the earliest you can serve alcohol in a restaurant in MN).  We also drank tons of coffee and had an awesome breakfast at Psycho Suzi's.

P.S. The rest of the weekend kinda sucked. I waitressed a wedding on Saturday and then spent 10 hours working the patio bar on Sunday. So it's a good thing Friday made up for it all!

6ix

Shockingly, it's been six years since I started this blog and one year since I stopped buying new clothing. And it's been the best year of my life. I still love my job(s), I got engaged, got married, and I'm still standing on the stairs. Though, Nate and I are kicking house-hunting into high gear so who knows how long they'll be around! Some of my faves since last year...

Thanks to anyone who still stops by this little thing... I for sure put less time and effort into it than I used to but with so many other things demanding my attention, I'm ok with that. I know I'm in the minority over here with my lack of Twitter, Instagram, "it" bags, and affiliate links but I like it this way.  Love you all and see you Monday (I'm totally playing hooky from work tomorrow! Don't worry, they know all about it.)

Black on black

On Friday each grade at my school was assigned a color to wear for Spirit Week. I chose to dress in black, like the 3rd graders (both because it's easy and because the 3rd graders this year are the biggest bunch of hypochondriacs I've ever met so I feel like I'm a part of their class.)

Friday night Nate and I made pizza from scratch then went and watched hockey and had a few beers with a friend. Saturday Nate had to work at the photo booth all day and I had to waitress in the evening. I started stenciling our little entryway (we painted it black a few weeks ago and I cut out the rose stencil myself.) So far so good!

I'll show you it again once it's finished (if I ever have a night off to work on it again!)

Sunday I had to waitress the Mother's Day brunch all day, then called my mom, then Nate and I sat by the pool and played cards for a while since it was not raining for once.

Monday... more black.

Twoday

Wednesday... it was "school shirt day" for Spirit Week at the school where I work. But I changed out of my black school tee and into a plain black shirt for the outfit photo since I don't want to plaster the name of my school all over the internet.

Thursday... it was "Twins Day" where all the kids dress the same as a friend or as their teacher. Since I work alone in my office I figured I wouldn't have a twin anyway so I wore my most unique dress instead. Rebel, rebel.
