A whole lotta red, white, and blue

Well, I did spend most of yesterday photographing vintage, but then I got a phone call from my friend Megan. She got two free tickets to the Twins game last night from her husband's work but he couldn't go - so she brought me! They were awesome tickets too - 13 rows up from home plate! And they won! 10 - 0! Woo!

He's got an attitude problem, that's for sure.

Well, I'm gonna spend the day photographing, measuring and listing for the etsy, so no real outfit today since I'll just change in and out of various vintage things about 50 times... but I will give you this...

Check out this crooked bastard, who apparently decided to spend his morning on the floor in front of my fridge and STING THE BOTTOM OF MY FOOT while I put a carton of eggs away. $#*@!!!!

Got it.

Today... I had to go to a "networking breakfast" for the new school year, followed by some very exciting meetings about things such as sexual harassment in the workplace. Snoooze. I won't touch my co-workers butts, I swear. Got it.

Saturday night... another wedding for the photo booth:

Dress - thrifted Free People
Watch - Michael Kors
Shoes - Chinese Laundry

Luckily the wedding was early so I was done at 9pm! My birthday was on Sunday, so some friends and I had a bonfire and celebrated a bit Saturday night:
Nate and I, on my birthday

Molly, the adorable 13 year old Basset Hound, wearing a bow off one of my gifts (she belongs to one of Nate's roommates and yes those are his fancy toes in the background. He was in the wedding party of the wedding we went to two weeks ago as a "bridesman" and he went with the bride and all the bridesmaids to get a pedicure before the wedding.)
Molly

For my actual birthday, I didn't want to make a big deal of it. So Nate and I just hung around the house, watched baseball, and went to dinner. Ugh, I'm THIRTY ONE!

Retrorama

Friday... I did... not much. With four jobs, I don't get too much time to just veg out. I took Friday as a veggie day and just hung around the house, watching movies and eating a lot of snacks. It was awesome. Then I felt like a bum and went running (Woo! My leg is healed enough that I can now!)

Two for one

Wednesday... I did a ton of random stuff around the house. I re-organized drawers so they look glorious (we'll see how long they stay that way).  I also hand washed a million things for myself and my etsy so my house is just covered in dripping, drying clothes. Then I helped a friend stretch some canvases. Playing with a staple gun is always fun! Maybe I've still got my recent trip to Wisconsin on my brain, cause I'm accidentally dressed in the Green Bay Packers colors...

Shenanigans

I went back to my parents' house with Nate this past weekend. We were celebrating my grandpa's 90th birthday! Venetian Fest was also going on (it's basically like a carnival or fair.) So Nate and I met my brother down there at the beer tent on Saturday night.

Venetian Fest

When we couldn't take the terrible cover band (doing all Katy Perry, Brittany Spears, Lady Gaga, etc)  any more, we spent the rest of the evening in my parents' barn, playing darts:

Isn't it cool in there? There's also foosball, pool, video games, a huge tv, an archery range, basketball, and of course - a fridge exclusively for beer. And lots of random crap on the walls.

Sunday was my grandpa's birthday party, then we all went down to the lake to watch the fireworks. It started pouring rain seconds after the fireworks ended so we had to haul ass while trying to use the blanket we were previously sitting on as shelter! It was super fun even though we all got pretty wet!

Blue Friday

Today... it's the last day of summer school! Now I've got off 'til September 4th! Well, from that job anyway. I still have to work the photo booth, hang with my special needs buddy two days a week, and keep up with the etsy.  It was only like 50 degrees this morning, so it's my first coat wearing of pre-fall!

My usual days with my special needs buddy, Daniel, got changed this week because he had a dentist appointment on Monday. So I hung with him last night instead, so we took out annual trip to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (I think this is the 9th summer in a row we've gone together!)

A tree house with no more tree, so I guess it's more like a... fort?

A rainbow and a wolf

Yesterday... worn to teach summer school, make and eat a ton of homemade soft pretzels, watch a bunch of old 30 Rock episodes with Nate, then go on a midnight mission to move my student's potted kale plants from out in the open to under an awning (it was going to storm and damn if I'm going to let their plants die on the 2nd to last day of class!)

Vintage Road Trip 2012

Well, sadly summer is coming to a close soon, so if you haven't gone on a real road trip yet, come on our virtual one! Marie, from Lemondrop Vintage has organized another multi-blog, multi-shop giveaway where you can win tons of fabulous vintage! This is my stop on the road trip, so welcome to MPLS (the preferred spelling of Minneapolis)! I'm giving away a $40 gift certificate to my etsy (good toward any item(s) in the shop and shipping, so it's open to international readers as well!) Click on each of the cute postcards below to visit each shop's blog and follow their instructions to enter their giveaway! And don't forget in all the excitement to enter my giveaway at the end of this post!

It's my first time using Rafflecopter for a giveaway, but it seems super convenient and easy, so let me know if you have any issues! The giveaway is open until September 10, so be sure to visit all the blogs and get as many entries as you can! Goooood luck! And take my advice, avoid the Lutefisk while you're here in Minnesota.

Oopsy-Daisy

Well today is Monochromatic Day on Everybody, Everywear... I've totally forgot to do the last few months (summer = braindead Christine). Luckily, I'm basically wearing a monochromatic outfit today anyway! Whoop! The bed ruffle dress to the rescue!

Ok, so there aren't daisies on the dress, so I guess this post should be called Oopsy-Roses.

Green and gold, gold and navy

Saturday... you guessed it, a wedding for the photo booth. This one was funny though! I worked a wedding last August for a girl who was getting married. Then in December, I worked another wedding and it was that girl's brother getting married. On Saturday, I worked the other sister's wedding. 3 kids, 3 weddings in less than a year, and I worked them all! The family thought it was funny and jokingly invited me to Thanksgiving this year since I was like part of the fam now! I swear the photo booth compnay has like 40 employees, I just somehow got assigned to all three events in this one family! Plus this shift was NINE HOURS long (they are typically 4-5 hours), so I opted for gold glitter flip flops so as not to totally destroy my feet in heels all night.

Double down

Ain't nothin' wrong with doing a bit of double denim (except maybe that it makes me talk like that...) Ok, and soooo maybe I was wrong... maybe I will wear short-ish shorts to work. For some reason these ones, while a bit short, I'm okay with wearing to work because they are so loose fitting... so, to sum up my new rules about shorts and work (well, for the summer only):

Short but loose = ok!
Short but tight = no!

Anyway, here's the most casual outfit in the history of casual Friday for casual summer school at the casual art school:

Necklace - made by me
Jean shorts - thrifted Lee jeans, shortened by me years ago

And this has nothing to do with anything other than it made me laugh today...
