MN Fashion Blogger Meet-up, and other, less-important days

Saturday afternoon was the MN Fashion Blogger Meet-up at the gorgeous barn belonging to Lori! Since I am a Terrible Blogger, I failed to take pictures, but I knew there was a photographer (Mari Schumann of UpperRoom Photography) there so I figured I'd let the lady with actual talent take the pictures and I would focus on drinking wine, excessively swearing, and sweating (my three main talents)... It was really fun and everyone was super nice and fashionable despite the crazy humidity. I'd met Sal twice before, but no one else. Here's a group shot courtesy of UpperRoom Photography:

Um, my hair looks insanely red in sunlight, yes? Always happens.

A Very Special Episode

Today is Everybody, Everywear: The Thrift Edition. A special collaboration with Yen from My edit (who, let's face it, is The Thrift Queen.) Wahoo! Thrifting! This is also my area of expertise, if I do say so myself. Give me a thrift store, $15, and 15 minutes and I will come out with a whole outfit. Guaranteed. So today's outfit is entirely thrifted:

Blouse - thrifted Banana Republic
Skirt - thrifted vintage (no brand tag)
Sandals - thrifted vintage Candie's

I would say 99% of my outfits contain at least one thrifted element, so it was hard to narrow this down from over three years of documenting my outfits... But here they are, some favorite, favorite thrifted finds (click on the photo to go to my flickr if you want the rest of the outfit details):

EBEW: Thrift

Um, seriously there are a million more... things I wear everyday (like shoes, plain skirts and shirts, my million bangles), statement items, designer items, vintage items, SO MUCH GOOD STUFF.  Plus, home stuff too! So go get your hiney to the thrift store! And if you're too lazy or grossed out by it or live in an area where thrifting is difficult or expensive, then go hit up my etsy and "nail my leftovers."

Thurston

Yesterday I got to go see Thurston Moore perform some songs and chat about himself, his childhood, Sonic Youth, working with Beck and whatever else in one of Minnesota Public Radio's small studios with only about 40 other people... it was... amazing. My favorite part was that I got to bring my friend Amber who loves him an exceptional amount and can now cross this off her proverbial "bucket list."

What I wore:
Jean jacket - Target (DIY back by me)
T-shirt - Target
Shorts - Jenny Han
Sandals - thrifted  vintage Candie's

DIY jacket back:
 My, um, nametag ticket...

Über-casual and Scallopini

I finally spent a $20 Groupon to Old Navy the other day... they were having a 75% off sale so I got two tank tops, two cardigans, and a skirt for $7 total...(well, I guess $17 if you count the original $10 for the Groupon). Either way, a great deal and weird to be in a real store instead of a thrift store... so many sizes of the same thing. Strange! So I got reaaaaaaly casual for work on Friday:
Scarf - thrifted vintage
Tank - Old Navy
Jeans - thrifted Banana Republic
Moccasins - thrifted Minnetonka Moccasins

Saturday I worked a wedding for the photo booth:
Dress - vintage via www.hihlostudio.etsy.com
Sandals - Charles David

Kept it simple because of the beautiful details on the dress... it has three layers of scallop details and the cutest big buttons on the back:

Lellow.

Yesterday was the first day of summer school! I'm an EA (Educational Assistant) for the World Cultures class, which is for kids who are going to be in first or second grade this year. They are super adorable and nothing makes you feel better than when six year olds fight over who gets to sit next to you on the alphabet carpet during circle time. Ahhh.. Today's outfit:
Glasses - thrifted vintage (lenses replaced)
Shirt - thrifted (little boys Cherokee)
Skirt - Betsy Johnson
Shoes - thrifted vintage Candie's

The new old glasses that I finally brought to the cute local optical place to get the lenses replaced:
