Ahhhhhhhhh! Waitressing was crazy busy last night and we're training a new bartender so basically it takes me twice as long to explain to him where everything is and how to do it than it would if I just did it all myself. Oh well, he's gotta learn sometime.

Spring! I love you in theory, but job overlap makes me hate you! (until I get my waitressing paycheck - then I'll take it all back.)

HMS

Yesterday... the only day until Friday that I don't have to work in the evening too. I went running then Nate and I spent the evening running errands. Then we sat down and watched the first episode of Oz. I'm only like 17 years behind the times.

Today is day three of it raining all day and all night long. The only upside is I've been sleeping awesome. There's something about the white noise of a constant rain that's so soothing.

After work on Friday, I had to waitress at the golf club for a big event until 1:30am. I was super exhausted when I was done. Saturday morning Nate and I went and looked at a few houses, but of course the ones we really liked were already sold (within 24 hours of being listed!) We also got a chip repaired in my windshield and bought some more paint at Lowe's. We had a coupon to 612 Brew, so we went and tried a few local beers Saturday night. On Sunday we painted. I love how my condo looked for the 9+ years I've lived here, but it's nice to change a few things up. Plus, it will be ready to rent out if we find a house we want to buy! I'll show it to you once it's all done. We're doing something complicated in the entryway, so it will be a while!

Patterns and swans

Wednesday...
4-23-14 Patterns
Oxford - F. by Faconnable (inherited from aunt)
Skirt - vintage Z. Cavaricci (altered from a dress - the top was a black long sleeved mock turtleneck)
Sandals - MIA

Thursday...

Sweater - thrifted vintage
Cropped pants - thrifted NY & Co.
Ballet flats - Aerosoles

It's been a dreary, rainy couple of days and it makes me want to stay in bed all day. Plus, our knob that changes the shower temperature fell off the other day and we brought it to Home Depot to buy a replacement and the guy in the plumbing department was like "I've never seen anything like that in my life." Sooooo, the cheap universal knob won't work to replace it. I've never had to call a plumber before but I'm sure this ordeal is going to cost us more than the $8 "universal" knob I thought would fix it...  Being a grown-up is exhausting sometimes.

Geez, I'm a buzzkill. Um, happy Friday?

Spring bling

Yesterday was my first day riding my bike to work this spring. I don't have a splash guard fender on my bike so I wait until all the snow melts and the paths dry out until I start riding. I'm a very "fair weather" biker and I'm totally ok with that! And yesterday was perfect - cool in the morning, warm in the afternoon (and windy as hell - which is not ideal but is fun!)

After I biked home, I quick showered and then had to work at the golf club for the ladies icebreaker. It's silly, but it was really nice to see everyone again! I feel so lucky that I love all of my jobs. All 3 - 5 of them.

A heartbreaker

Yesterday... truth be told, this chambray is for sale... I LOVE it and was tempted to keep it, but it's just too big on me. But I decided to embrace the smockiness? and just wear it one time anyway.

Selling vintage is heartbreaking sometimes. But I've slowly learned I can't keep everything that's awesome. Especially if it doesn't fit right. Farewell, badass embroidery!

Bunnies

Friday...

Friday night Nate and I just hung out at home and watched the Twins game. On Saturday we woke up and had no water! The caretakers called and said a water main was leaking and it would be repaired. 14 hours later, we had water again. It was super annoying! We had to use the Brita water in the fridge to brush our teeth and wash our hands. It's amazing how we take running water for granted!

I had to waitress Saturday night but it was pretty slow due to the big Easter brunch on Sunday. So when I was done I went and met up with some friends. Our friends Mel and Jake got a new rescue whippit/lab mix so we got to meet him (adorable!) Our other friend is babysitting a huge golden retriever while his owner is on a cruise, and there was also an old basset hound there. Puppy party!

Sunday we got up early and met up with the fam for Easter. It was 78 degrees (!!!) outside and Henrik was very into saying "Happy Easter" to everyone over and over.

Yesterday was pretty awesome. My fantasy baseball team is kicking ass. The Twins played a double-header and won both games!  I made quesadillas and played Yahtzee with my special needs buddy Daniel after school. And all the snow we got on Wednesday melted! All in all, it was a win!

TCB

Yesterday...

Glasses - thrifted vintage American Optical
Tank - little boys Fruit of the Loom
Sweater - Gray by Sak's Fifth Avenue
Jeans - Gap
Clogs - Zigi Soho

Jacket - Kenneth Cole

After work I went directly to my sister's house to watch the boys for a few hours while she went to work. I've never watched them both without Nate there to help! Let me give you a tip, don't ever accidentally wear a dry-clean only sweater when you're going to hang out with a baby. Regardless, they were adorable. Peder's perfecting the art of standing (while still barely holding on to something for balance).
IMG_4192

And Henrik's just generally TCB (taking care of business.) He spent a long time talking about his love for pancakes and syrup, the toys from Cars, and how he's not allowed to eat his "special candy" (Easter candy) for dinner. He never stops talking and it's all pretty hilarious.

Nerd burglar

There's something really prep school nerdy about this outfit that I love... maybe the cropped pants/vest combo?

I am pathetically proud of the fact that I've remembered to take jacket photos several days in a row... In the winter I tend to just wear the same coat over and over since it's the warmest and then I always know where my bus pass and ipod are, but I love being able to switch it up in the spring and fall!

Jacket - Tart Collections

I had to rush home yesterday and change into my waitressing uniform... I'm back to waitressing at the golf club a few days a week now that it's nice out. It's annoying to work such long hours until school gets out in June, but the extra $$ will be nice!

Nate and I had a pretty low-key Friday since we knew Saturday would be a long day. Nate's sister and her husband bought four MN Twins tickets at a charity auction a few weeks ago. They came to town and took us! The game was at 1pm on Saturday, then we took them out for dinner, then went back to our place where a few more friends joined us for a night of Cards Against Humanity. We had perfect weather and awesome seats and the Twins even won the game! Wooo!

Candy day

Yesterday...

Dress - thrifted Laundry by Shelli Segal

Yesterday was our friend Sunder's 2nd Cell Day (anniversary of his bone marrow transplant.) His sisters were making him a video of all his friends back home (he currently lives in Cincinnati to be close to a specialty hospital) and asked us to record a message. His nickname is "The Candyman" because he loves candy more than any adult should. So Nate and I bought a ton of candy and recorded our message while stuffing our faces with sugar. At one point a gummy worm fell out of my mouth while I was talking. It was classy super fun!

Also, I am wearing a shirt that says "I've got the crabs." It's been my preferred pajama shirt since I was 15 and found it at a garage sale for fifty cents.

Judy is a punk

Yesterday it hit 72 degrees in MPLS, so I dressed like it was 95. Cause that's what it felt like after the long winter on the frozen tundra. I found this dress in the fall with all the Halloween stuff at the thrift store. I love how it's vintage yet still gives off a bit of a futuristic Judy Jetson vibe... I think it's the pointy cap sleeves and giant chevron pattern.

Jacket weather

Yesterday it was still too wet on the paths to bike to work so it was the perfect time to wear a maxi skirt (which can be bike-able, but this one is so voluminous at the bottom, it's just not the best option.)

Open

Spring break's over (boo!) but it actually feels like spring today and it's the MN Twins home opener!

I had a fun spring break. I won tickets to see Once! My mom was in town, so I took her and my sister to the show! We've seen a loooooooot of musicals together over the years. This one wasn't my fave, but it was cute.

Nate and I went and hung out with Henrik and Peder another day and tried to burn off some toddler energy in the snow...
IMG_20140404_154046

Nate and I also took down the gallery wall in the living room, filled in the million nail holes, and repainted the walls. I'll post photos of it soon. I spent a lot of time over spring break sprucing up the condo so it's ready to rent out if we find a house to buy. We also got cable for the first time ever so we can watch all the Twins games. Exciting!
