Plaid problems

Today... wearing what are clearly my new favorite pants.

I've worn these pants at least once a week since I got them. I was looking for a vintage pair of navy and hunter green plaid pants FOREVER and I found a lot of pairs but never in my size. So when I found these ones at a Salvation Army for $6 I was super excited!

Plus they're much less conspicuous than my other pair of plaid pants...

Stripes on stripes

Yesterday was a stripe overload kinda day. It's back in the mid 70s for a few days! It's awesome! After getting snowstorms until late April, I'm glad we're kinda making up for it with a warm fall. I'm so not ready for winter yet!

I'm fan of stripes in general but I mean, really, who isn't? They work so well with polka dots or florals or plaids (or solids, I suppose) but I absolutely adore the stripes on stripes look. Some stripe mixing looks of the past...

Flowers and desserts

Today will be the last of the warm sweaters. I swear.

Yesterday I met my friend Megan for our weekly lunch date, but instead we went to the Macy's Flower Show. It smelled insanely good in there. I haven't seen or smelled real flowers in months! We also stopped by the Yogurt Lab on our walk back and I got the best fro-yo I've ever had in my life (a little bit of salted caramel flavor with Oreo pieces, a little bit of salted peanut flavor with cookie dough chunks, and a little bit of birthday cake flavor with sprinkles. Amazing.)

We also passed this on our walk there... There's a bike sharing program here called Nice Ride and this was their big publicity stunt to celebrate the return of spring and their bikes! It's a pretty cool program; if I didn't have a bike (or four, actually) I'd totally use them.
so loooooong winter

Paul

Now that winter is almost over, I'm resisting the urge to start dressing springy and instead trying to wear all my very wintery sweaters/jackets/cardigans one last time. Because I'm a nerd, I made a list last night of all my warmest, winteriest things I'd like to wear again and this was the first one on the list. My inner Paul Bunyan loves this jacket.

I've got the day off tomorrow so I'll be back Monday! Hopefully with a clean-slate of a to-do list!

Another day, another reason to wear mustard yellow... I feel like it was a pretty trendy color a few years ago, but I tend to wear it a LOT. I know some people think it's a tough color to pull off (I guess it all depends on your skin tone and hair color) but I love it! Here's to you, mustard! I love you for tights, sweaters, dresses, tees, skirts - just stay off my sandwiches!

Biking through leaves

It's super nice out today! It was 55 degrees when I woke up (instead of the usual 35) and supposed to get up to 70 later! Yay!

Last night Nate, Megan, and I volunteered at Cycles for Change for a few hours. We put our newly learned bike repair skills to work and stripped a few bikes whose frames were deemed unusable. So we pulled off all the usable parts, cleaned them, and filed them away for use later when someone is building/repairing a bike and needs a replacement part. It was super fun! Though it is annoying having a constant "grease manicure," I've pretty much come to terms with it. It's a losing battle for the time being.

For any bikers in the twin cities, I highly recommend their free classes if you want to learn about bike maintenance/winter biking. They even have a women and transgender only night every Tuesday, as I know a lot of girls are intimidated by bike shops and the fact that it's mostly dudes and the sometimes snobby attitude that can be associated with hard-core bikers. There's also Spokes in the Seward neighborhood of MPLS, which is a brand new and similar non-profit bike shop for repairs and classes.

Pink roses, brown squirrels

Last time I wore this sweater, I may or may not have insinuated that Donna Karen was on drugs when designing this sweater. I may or may not stand by that statement, but I love it regardless.

Pink and green are a tough color combo to pull off, IMO, so I'm pretty happy with how this turned out!

I listed a bunch of Army shirts/jackets and a boy scout shirt last night. Click on them to go to the etsy page...

Ginham, polka dots, and fall vintage

I've got a few shirts and two cardigans that belonged to my aunt/Godmother Carol. She was always cleaning out her closet and giving the stuff to my mom and me to go through before we donated the rest to Goodwill. Since she died almost three years ago, the shirts have become even more special and I always like wearing them.

When I was home visiting my parents last time, I scanned a few old photos (of course I forgot to do it until it was almost time to leave so I only got to do about 10 pictures.) Next time, hopefully I can do a lot more. Here's one of my favorites of my aunt/Godmother and I. She lived right on the lakefront and had the tallest water slide anywhere on the lake. It was awesome.

Psst, I also added all this fall vintage stufffff to the etsy last night (and you can still get 15% off with the coupon code "IMALOSERBABY" Sorry, you aren't a loser, I'm just a big Beck fan. Click on any photo to go to the etsy page for that item.

In case you didn't know (I didn't until I started photographing all this stuff)... cobalt blue jeans go with EVERYTHING.
