thumbtack shoes, easy but painful

Pretty cool shoes, huh? Not quite $170 worth of cool, but not much is... they are the Jeffrey Campbell Tick and are sold out like everywhere. I remember seeing a DIY for this over on Annie Spandex involving many silver thumbtacks and wanting to try it. Seriously, I thought this was such a cool and easy DIY so many thanks to Annie Spandex for being awesome and innovative!

I knew I had a pair of Unlisted by Kenneth Cole wedge sandals that I inherited from a friend that would be perfect. I finally had a reason to go to Home Depot, so I picked up a bunch of thumb tacks and started on them about two weeks ago. After like 200 tacks, my thumb really hurt so I stopped for a few days. Last Thursday I brought them over to the boys house to work on them during Project Runway (which turned out to be the hardware store challenge, and I was promptly made fun of, but whatevs)... I did about 300 more tacks, and realized I needed to buy some more (and my thumb was numb and bruised again!) So all in all it took 750 tacks (about $10 worth) and I think they turned out great! Okay, they are a little too big on me, but like I said, the shoes were FREE from a friend who only wore them once, so I'm willing to deal with it... Hooray for $10 shoes!
I'm looking forward to wearing them/being able to feel my thumb again...

Oh wow they look great - I have that tute on my to-do list with a pair of wedge mary janes - at least I know to get a LOT of thumb tacks now :D

Wow. I'm impressed. Also, not to sound creepy, but you could be a foot model. I would not pose sockless right now for all the JC Tick shoes in the world.

Oh wow! Yours took more than mine. A hammer can help with the pushing, but yeah, my thumb was a little tender the next day, too. Anyway, they look awesome! Way more interesting! Thanks so much for the shout-out and for showing me. :D
