Lonely little dresses

Last summer I found two handmade dresses at a thrift store. This one...

And the one I'm wearing today:
Dress - thrifted, handmade
Shoes - Melissa

I'm hoping it's one of the sample dresses that the ladies at the fabric store make to show new patterns and put on the mannequins. I really don't want to believe that some girl got them from her grandma and didn't like them. Yipes!
Does anyone else have Melissa shoes? I love them and think they are comfy and cute but man alive do they smell! Like rubber? Seriously, I keep them sealed up or else my whole closet smells like them!

Yay! Book club tonight! We read "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" by Carson McCullers and it's super good! We usually discuss the book for about an hour and a half, then pick the book for next month, by then we've all had too much wine, so we play Pictionary!

both adorable dresses, and I'm sure they're fabric store samples, don't worry :o)

I have been looking at Melissa shoes for a long time, but haven't gotten any yet. These are so fun! I've heard very mixed reviews on the smell. Some people like it a whole lot ... they might be the same who love the smell of gasoline though (which I also never really understood).

Actually, I have that EXACT pair of Melissas. In purple. No lie.

And I adore both dresses. Glad you could give them a loving home!

Melissa shoes stink up my whole room! But I think the smell is tasty, so I don't much mind.

so cute, I think I like the second one just a little better. You are too funny about your book club. The ladies I work with have one and they can't even tell me what books they are reading! I do know they are drinking though!

wow both of those dresses are awesome! it's so fun to find something handmade at a thrift store- i always wonder how anyone can part with things that were sewn so carefully!

and i don't have the melissa shoes, but have been thinking about trying some out. i'm glad they're comfy, but now i have to find some in a store to do a smell test. ~joelle

Those dresses are both soooo adorable! I would never give them to a thrift store if they were mine!

I'm jealous of your book club. The one I was in disintegrated during the year and a half I was gone in Spain. :(

Both lovely dresses. I adore them.

Your book club sounds about like mine. First we eat a bunch of appetizers. Make it about halfway through the questions on sheet. Eat a bunch of desert and then argue about what to read three selections down the line.

Sounds pretty much like my book club. My husband refers to it as "wine club." We also read Carson McCullers recently. This month we are reading short stories by Loori Moore.

And holy smokes, those dresses are amazing! I think I would pee myself (from excitement) if I found them at a thrift store. And they fit you perfectly! You are a lucky gal!
