A black and white affair

Well, so far my spring break has not been going according to plan... I live in a condo and the person who lives above my bedroom has a leaky pipe! It is leaking through my ceiling and into my bedroom. Boo. So I have been up since 3am and now get to spend the day with plumbers. On a happier note, I took one outfit photo (believe me, you don't need to see my "clean out the garage and kill all the spiders" outfit from yesterday. One of my neighbors actually thought I was a teenage boy.)

Here is what I wore on Saturday, to my friend Susan's 30th birthday party. The party was called "Zebras and Zubas: A Black and White Affair" so everyone had to wear black and white. Which is double funny because my friend Susie is black and her husband is white so she generally refers to their marriage as a black and white affair. Anyway, I used the opporunity to wear this insane vintage dress:

Cardigan - Nine West
Dress  thrifted vintage Romantica by Victor Costa
Shoes - Seychelles

Previous wearings of the dress here and here. Yes, I always wear it with a cardigan because the sleeves are patterened too (of course) and I can handle wearing a dress with the volume turned up to 10, but this dress without the cardigan is at volume 11...

I am so in love. That dress is fabulous. I'd love to see it with a yellow cardi. I've always loved the black/white/yellow combo.

That dress makes me dizzy, in the best possible way! I love theme parties! I also love how you can basically pull everything off!

Wow, that is a gorgeous dress! I'm seriously floored by how pretty it is. Looks even more amazing without the cardigan.

That dress is amazing. Sorry about your condo troubles. That doesn't sound fun.

that dress is so fantastically striking! looks great on you. i can commiserate with the plumbing issues - when i first moved to brooklyn our upstairs neighbors pipe burst and FLOODED our living room, ruining my new couch. :-( ah, city life.

That dress is gorgeous! A serious 11. I'm sorry to hear about the leak. Hopefully they'll get it fixed up fast.

That dress is awesome. I would remove the sleeves and alter the neckline a little. It would make it a little more modern and you could wear it with or without the cardigan.

Could you alter the dress by removing the sleeves. It would look great as a summer maxi.

I LOVE THAT DRESS. Love, love, love it! And? I love the Spinal Tap reference. I use it all the time on my students, and only one in 10 gets it.
Of course, only 1 in 100 gets my Eddie Izzard reference... Cake or Death!

I love this dress! I have a collection of vintage maxi dresses & I am always struggling with where to wear them. They are bright & bold & I live in a small, very laid back town. There aren't many opporunities for "dressing up". Anyway, I love that you wore this dress & it really is gorgeous.

That dress is the most perfect outfit to wear for a black and white party. No other outfit could ever top it. This is how I want my wardrobe to work: for every occasion I just so happen to have the most perfect outfit for it, and there's never any overlap.
