Little thrills

Well, our grand burrito plans were thwarted last night. We went to Chipotle at about 7pm and the line was to the door, through the whole restaurant, and out the back door. It was well over 100 people long. Sorry, a half price burrito is not worth standing in line for an hour. But damn, that's a lot of educators! So we went to our favorite sandwich place instead (Caffrey's for you MPLS peeps) and then drank an insanely hoppy IPA (my fave!) while watching the Twins game.

Who's that girl?

I don't quite feel like "myself" today looking at these photos... but it's Dia de los Muertos so I had to wear this cute shirt! Plus this skirt perfectly matches it and has been in the "wear soon" area of my closet for a few weeks. Still, I'm not usually one for monochrome grey and black! But, two of my high schoolers already told me I looked "cool and bad asssss, er, butt. Bad butt." so I got that going for me.

Why are skulls and skeletons so cute? I feel like they're such a cliché but I love them anyway!

Fur, pumpkins, and bikes

10-24-12 Fur and flowers
Collar - thrifted vintage
Dress - thriftd vintage (no tags previous remix tribute here)
Shoes - Franco Sarto

Last night I got a lot of random stuffff done. Nate works really late on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for now so I use those nights to catch up on a bunch of projects. I made a million phone calls for a secret photobooth related project. Then I carved a pumpkin for a pumpkin carving contest...
Marilyn Monroe pumpkin
I figured everyone would be doing skeletons and Frankensteins and stuff so I went with what I think is the most iconic Halloween costume of all time - Marilyn Monroe. You're gonna see a Marilyn in a white dress every. single. year. I thought doing it Andy Warhol style would be easy. Boy was I wrong. I put different colored glow sticks inside for each photo to give it a bit of the bright pop-art feel. And roasted the pumpkin seeds, which are awesome!

I also finished up this custom order of bikes for a nursery:

I think this is such a good idea! If you're having a girl, you're gonna get a lot of pink stuff and it's not all going to be in the same color family. So this way, you've got some art that ties all the pinks together! Plus I love that she has a bike theme for a girl's nursery - yay!

I also got a bunch of vintage orders packed up and ready to ship. Boy, people sure do love waiting til the last minute for their Halloween costumes! I got a few orders yesterday pleading me to ship them ASAP because they need them for this weekend. Which is fine, I go to the post office at least twice a week anyway and it's good to know when someone needs it by a certain date but holy procrastination! I've been working on my costume for like a month (thought I am aware that is because I'm a Halloween weirdo!)

Ginham, polka dots, and fall vintage

I've got a few shirts and two cardigans that belonged to my aunt/Godmother Carol. She was always cleaning out her closet and giving the stuff to my mom and me to go through before we donated the rest to Goodwill. Since she died almost three years ago, the shirts have become even more special and I always like wearing them.

When I was home visiting my parents last time, I scanned a few old photos (of course I forgot to do it until it was almost time to leave so I only got to do about 10 pictures.) Next time, hopefully I can do a lot more. Here's one of my favorites of my aunt/Godmother and I. She lived right on the lakefront and had the tallest water slide anywhere on the lake. It was awesome.
My aunt and I, long ago

Psst, I also added all this fall vintage stufffff to the etsy last night (and you can still get 15% off with the coupon code "IMALOSERBABY" Sorry, you aren't a loser, I'm just a big Beck fan. Click on any photo to go to the etsy page for that item.

In case you didn't know (I didn't until I started photographing all this stuff)... cobalt blue jeans go with EVERYTHING.

Seeing spots

Worn to take 19 third graders on a city bus to a local co-op for our field trip today... I naively thought it would be "fun," but I was wrong. Dead wrong. Ok, no one died... except my spirit. I kid, I kid. It was stressful, but still fun.
Blouse - Polo Ralph Lauren (inherited from aunt)
Skirt - thrifted vintage aileen (came in a set with this shirt for $6 total!)
Wedges - nicole by Nicole Miller

Aaaand what's new in my etsy world... finally got my Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox shirts done for both men and women... yay! Paul is on the front and Babe is on the back!

And lots more vintage (click on the photo to go to the etsy page.) And yep, finally found a vintage dress form at an estate sale (yay!) and every time I come back into the living room, it scares the crap outta me. Every. Damn. Time.

Blouse - thrifted vintage aileen
Shorts - thrifted Old Navy
Wedges - nicole by Nicole Miller, inherited from a friend

Tuesday... worn to hang out with my special needs buddy and sweat. A lot. But I'm tired of hearing about the weather, so we'll leave it at that.
Tank - thrifted Patrick Robinson for Target sample
Bangles - J.Crew outlet
Skirt - American Apparel
Sandals - Juicy Couture

I'm still steadily listing new vintage stuff on the etsy. A bunch of skirts...

Aaaand, I made a few canvas totes for the shop too. I know a lot of people don't wear graphic tees, so I thought I'd try this! They are available in either black or yellow and have the beehive hairdo graphic on one side and the beard of bees graphic on the other!
