I even wear surgical gloves sometimes, though mine are necessary for my job not due to OCD germaphobia stuff. I love germs.

Actually, I'm waaaaay behind on Glee this season. I have a love/hate relationship with the show and just haven't bothered to watch it in months. But still, no spoilers! One day I will be bored and need something to watch on the treadmill and then I'll catch up! Currently (well, not this second, just in general) I'm watching the first season of the US remake of Shameless on the treadmill and I really like it! I'm one of those people who holds shows hostage and only lets myself watch them while I exercise. I love running and once I start I'm so glad I did, but mustering up the motivation to run immediately after work is sometimes difficult. But I will NEVER be one of those people who gets up at 5am and exercises before work so it's my only option and it works for me (usually!)

P.S. It's been a while since I dressed like a walking hot dog, so here ya go. Whoo!

I wish...

It's 11/11... time to make a wish. Actually, no. You already know my wish. It's the same as Skee-Lo's... I wish I was a little bit taller. I was I was a baller... I wish this awesome sweater didn't give off Christmas vibes, even though it's just a red sweater with bows on it and not really Christmasy at all but still... wait, those aren't the lyrics?

Busy weekend... I have to work the photo booth tonight = boo. But, at least it's at a Russian Vodka Bar, so at least it will be an interesting wedding!  Tomorrow, being November 12, means I will engage in my yearly Back to the Future marathon. Nate is pretty excited about it, but probably also thinks I'm a weirdo for doing it on that particular date every year... what can I say? I LOVE Back to the Future. Also, my grandparents from Chicago are coming up for a quick visit to see baby Henrik, so that will be the rest of the weekend! Haaaaaaaaaave a good one and I hope all your 11/11/11 at 11:11 wishes come true!

Three, tres, III

It's my three year blog-o-versary!

I am excited... but dubious.

It has officially been three years since I started this blog. On the day I started it, I had left my camera at a friend's house so I took the photo with the built in camera on my MacBook, while it was turned on it's side. We've come a long way, babies. I've seen blogs I love come and go. I've seen some turn from awesome daily lookbooks to essentially a catalog, trying to sell me shit I don't need and can't afford and they got for free. But I assure you, I will not do either of these things, I will stick around. Because I am okay blogging into a void. I never had a diary. Never in my life. This is as close as I'm gonna get (Dear diary, aka innernetz, OMG dudes, I CANNOT stop thinking about Mohawk Boy... at least I know he feels the same way... it is disgusting.) So here it is, for you thousand-odd readers a day, my style soul.

I kinda felt like I had to sum up myself and my style in this outfit, for some reason, which was both hard and easy. It's nothing Earth-shattering, but a general look I play off of a lot. Separates because dresses hate my big boobs and narrow hips, DIY and thrifted elements, some basics from my hometown hero Target, inappropriately tall and expensive shoes (comparatively speaking), and giving off the general vibe that I am looking to mate with a fellow hot dog. Although, I should have worn my hair up since that is kinda my signature style too... oh well!

I have always dressed a bit different from everyone else, ever since I can remember. And I wish I had more photos of some of the shit I wore (assignment for when I go visit the 'rents this summer: go through old photos and scan and blog some of my '80s and '90s insanity... it's something to see.) I can't say how this blog changed my life because I have no idea what would have happened had I not started it. I would probably be a stripper, erm, I mean dancer or dead. Ok, probably not, but who knows?!? Anyway, let's wax sentimental for a moment and say I love you, Void. Blogosphere. Haters. (Denise.) Whoever you are, dear reader. Mom. New readers. Old readers. Lurkers. People who think I'm judgey because I don't give a shit about Anthropologie and would NEVER wear shit from F21, UO, Zara, H&M, and all those other trendy mall stores, but will still wear stuff from Target. Or because I have no specific feelings toward cupcakes or macaroons. For all the outfits you loved, or hated, and those days that even I look back on and I am embarrassed that I wore that two years ago but it was a bad day and shut up anyway. I feel so lucky to have girls (err, women... I still have trouble referring to myself as a "woman") all across the country, well, the world actually who stop by and read this silly thing. And I feel like I've found some kindred spirits who understand my closet obsession, and they have become friends. Thank you. THANK you. Thank YOU...

I got 500 problems

I feel like a Target employee/Oscar Meyer wiener today. I tried this on with yellow shoes, since I'm constantly striving to dress like a hot dog, but I just couldn't do the black tights and yellow shoes thing. Why? I've seen too many slutty Minnie Mouses on Halloween. Really, that is why. They broke my brain and now I can't handle wearing yellow shoes with black tights.

This morning when I was adding this outfit to my flickr, I realized this is my 500th outfit! That is so many! And they are all different! Actually, I wore one exact outfit twice. If you can find it you win... nothing. And it would be a huge waste of time. It was this outfit:

Because I'm pretty sure this is the only way to wear a giant tiger print with a tiger face oversized pajama t-shirt as a dress. Though, I guess I could rock it with tights and boots in the winter. Anyway, thanks to all you lovely readers for coming to visit me and being so nice about my stylistic schizophrenia. Here's to 500 more days of insanity!

P.S. Mr T is taking me out on what he is calling a "romantic super-date" tomorrow and I have to dress up! Goodness gracious, I simultaneously feel like I'm 16 and like I'm going to vomitron. I'll report back, should I survive.

Mismatch

It's Spirit Week at the school where I work so there are dress-up days this week. Today is Mismatch Day. I didn't plan an outfit in advance and I could not sleep at all last night, so you get this. I could have gotten way crazy with the mismatching, but decided to keep it pretty tame so I can still take the bus and walk around downtown without looking like a weirdo.

I will understand if you leave me and go follow one of the other million hot dog related fashion blogs out there. But maybe the boots make me look like a burnt hot dog?

Khaki wishes and cookie dreams

I myself have never been discriminated against or judged unfairly on the basis of my appearance or lifestyle. However, this weekend, I went to a birthday party for a girl named Katie, along with about 20 of her friends. Katie, and the majority of the other people who were at her party are lesbians. Sitting in the restaurant, it was so weird to be on that side of things. The stares. The whispers. The disapproving looks. It was my first taste of blind judgement and leering curiosity... and something I am so thankful I don't have to deal with every day. It makes me so proud of all my gay friends, and their constant bravery and inner strength to have to live like that all the time. Sorry, this is something that doesn't have to do with anything style related, but just something that really bothered me and I want to remember.

I am sad there is no new Project Runway tonight, but I guess the Olympics are almost over so I should get in one last event or two... in exciting-to-me-but-no-one-else-cares news, I am getting awesome at yoga! My heels now touch the ground in downward dog and I impress everyone with my extended headstands due to my extremely flat head (no really! The top of my head is really flat but luckily you can't tell due to my hair!) Alright kids, I'll report back soon with my DIY.. it's taken longer than I though to put the finishing details on!

Remember those old cartoons that used to show in between movies at the drive-in? Where it was a food circus and the hot dog bun was training the hot dog to do tricks, like back flips? No? Bueller?
I'm always sad when I go to the drive-in (which is surprisingly often, a few times a summer) and there are no food cartoons encouraging me to go to the concession stand (so I don't!)
