Well, Nate and I drove the six hours to go visit my parents for Thanksgiving. It was really nice (at first)... We did the whole big turkey dinner thing and it was great. My four month old nephew Peder was throwing up one night and he was pretty fussy the next day so my sister, my mom, and I kept taking turns keeping him as happy as we could. Friday night I got a headache, and then started to feel nauseous. My mom felt the same way. We both started baaaaarfing and within an hour my sister was too. Thank goodness there's three bathrooms in the house - one for each of us! I threw up 2-3 times every twenty minutes for about 8 hours. It was horrific. I threw up until it was painful and there was nothing left to throw up. I drank water just so there was something there rather than just excruciating dry-heaving. I tried to sleep in between runs to the bathroom but combined with the off and on sweats/chills it was an awful night.

On Saturday Nate and I drove back to Minneapolis (thankfully he didn't get sick too! I felt bad because he had to sleep downstairs on the reclining sofa, then drive all day - neither of which is very pleasant for him because he has some broken vertebrae in his lower back). I slept for quite a bit of the drive and was so excited to be home in my own bed. It's been years since I've puked (thanks to the historical record that is the blog, I know it was June 6, 2009.) I still feel weird every time I eat, so here's hoping I'm back to full strength in a day or two!

The culprit...

Oh, hey! I'm Peder! I'm adorable and dressed up like a snowman for no reason other than there's nothing else to do in Wisconsin... and I'm about make you all very, very sick.

Kooky ladies

I found this crazy novelty print skirt at a thrift store like two months ago but didn't want to wear it until I could rock it with bare legs. I just feel like it's so insane on it's own, I didn't want to complicate it further by wearing it with tights.

Necklace - vintage (my mom found it for me at a garage sale!)
T-shirt - Target
Skirt - thrifted vintage
Wedges - Nine West Vintage America Collection

Here they are, the weird ladies (and a few strange little girls)...

These two ladies are my faves, cause they look like mean bitches. So I made them fight like they're from 1992 not 1952...

We don't dress up at the school where I work, no trick-or-treaters come to my condo, and Nate is working until 10pm tonight. So, Saturday was my only day to dress up and celebrate Halloween I guess! Boo, I'm sad it's over!

Volunteering last night was super fun, I got put on "Ugly Christmas Sweater" duty, tagging and hanging them for the upcoming "Merry Thriftmas" season. It was awesome!

Also, it's my first time wearing tights since like April... I forgot how much wearing dark tights sucks for taking photos due to the stair balusters... I have a wonky leg in like every photo! Grr.

So prepare yourself internet, I wear a lot of black/navy/brown tights in the winter so I'm gonna have perpetual 4x4/cylinder/partial robot leg.

He's got an attitude problem, that's for sure.

Well, I'm gonna spend the day photographing, measuring and listing for the etsy, so no real outfit today since I'll just change in and out of various vintage things about 50 times... but I will give you this...
He's got an attitude problem, that's for sure.

Check out this crooked bastard, who apparently decided to spend his morning on the floor in front of my fridge and STING THE BOTTOM OF MY FOOT while I put a carton of eggs away. $#*@!!!!

Suck it, Mariah Carey

Yesterday afternoon a 2nd grade girl at my school asked me if I would sign her yearbook. So I did. Then she said, "Well, since you got to sign my yearbook, I get to sign your cast." I told her it wasn't the kind of cast you sign, but she insisted (and she only wrote in Bic pen, so I can wash it off if I want.) So here is my boot:

I told Nate that now it looks like I named my boot "Mariah" and so I kept referring to it as "Mariah." Since I dislike the boot, I was mostly saying bad things about the boot like "I'm so sick of Mariah!" I started to feel bad, like I was talking bad about the cute 2nd grade girl. So, I started referring to the boot as "Mariah Carey." Which is how my aircast became officially known as Mariah Carey.

Scarf - thrifted vintage
Polo - from when I was a bev cart girl at a golf course
Shorts - thrifted Express
Right sandal - J.Crew

I tried out wearing only one tall sock because it's supposed to be hot today... I thought the asymmetry would bother me, but it doesn't. Aaaaaaaaaaaand just because...

What? If I had to pick a Mariah Carey to replace my boot, it would be Mariah Carey on rollerblades from her "Fantasy" video...

Also, I assure you:
a.) I am not now nor have I ever been a Mariah Carey fan.
b.) I am no longer on pain meds, I swear.

I'm not really sure how this post happened... I guess it's just how my brain works.

Luckily, I'm easily entertained

Only 3 more days of school! Woo! Today...

Hair scarf - thrifted vintage
Blouse - thrifted vintage Lang Originals
Skirt - thrifted vintage (no tags, tailored and hemmed by me)
Socks - Target
Right shoe - Steve Madden

Ugh, it's only been 4 days and I'm already sick of the boot. This outfit would be way better if I could wear my navy heels....

See? This could be a fun little project! Photoshopping in the shoes I would have worn from previous outfits! Bad Photoshop 4 Lyfe.

Back in black

I guess I shouldn't say "back" in black, as I rarely wear black... Keeping it simple today. This dress is so awesome on it's own I tend to wear it pretty plainly so I don't overwhelm the cuteness.

Dress - vintage via Hihlo Studio
Sandals - Target

Wow, that was the shortest list of clothing ever!  Some detail shots of the cuteness...

Tomorrow I'm going to babysit Henrik in the morning so my sister can go to a flea market (I'm jealous!) with some of her co-workers (she's an interior designer). Apparently he is teething and understandably being a grouch about it. But Nate's coming with to help, and Henrik usually stops crying when Nate plays him songs on the guitar. Tre adorable. Aaaaaaaaaaand then I'm working another prom. Noooooooooo!

Sorry, Henrik, but you best get used to it. I'm gonna crappily photoshop pictures of you your whole life, whether you like it or not. Aaaaaaaaand then I'll put them on the internet.

We killed a zoo

I RARELY wear animal prints at all, in fact I think the only animal print thing I've ever worn on the blog is the insane tiger "dress" (and the one time I wore this belt previously.) I thrifted this cardigan a few weeks ago to try to get over my fear of leopard print and I just bought these shoes on uber-clearance... So I decided to go nuts and wear three different kinds of animal print today.

Cardigan - thrifted Liz Claiborne
Tank - little boys Fruit of the Loom
Belt - thrifted vintage
Skirt - thrifted Ann Tjian for Kenar
Tights - Cynthia Rowley
Shoes - Nine West

Sorry, animals. Acutally, no. The shoes are synthetic and obviously the cardigan is not made of an actual leopard. The ponyskin belt is real, but probably from the '70s, so I feel less bad about it. Besides, as Mr. Burns would say...

Oh my, making stupid crap in Photoshop is my fave...

Shoulder turbans

Shirt - some little boutique in Seoul, Korea
Vest - thrifted (relativity)
Necklace - Shabby Apple via Two Birds giveaway
Jeans - Armani Exchange via consignment
Shoes - thrifted Joan Helpern Signature Collection

I LOVE this shirt and it's little shoulder turbans but it's pretty form-fitting (aka tight) on me, so I've never worn it to work. I tried it with a vest today and yay! Work appropriate! Don't think the shoulders look like turbans?

Do you now? It's a sexxxxay lady in a turban. Like Kelly Wearstler. Sorry. Clearly I am bored today. Can I also say I'm a little bit proud? Picnik didn't have any noses so I made that one out of three crescent moons. Skillz.

Sheerly, you jest

I felt like wearing a ton of sheers today... so I did. I also felt like making a bad pun... so I did.
Blouse - thrifted vintage
Tank- little boys Fruit of the Loom
Belt - thrifted
Skirt - American Apparel
Knee highs -  Target? Your grandma's sock drawer?
Shoes - thrifted Joan Helpern Signature Collection

Shoe shot and blouse detail to show it is full of tiny pearls! .

Ok, the time has to address a major blog problem. And that problem is my face. My morning face. I am not big on going to bed in a timely manner so I am usually pretty tired when I wake up. I get up around 6:30am and have to be to the bus stop by 7:15... so these pictures get taken like a half hour after I first wake up... which usually results in one of these four faces occurring (I did not make these faces intending to do this post... they just happen. Every day.):

The "I am Possibly Sleepwalking Face", a classic, just staring at nothing.

The "Someone is Holding Me Hostage Face", for when I am trying so hard
to keep my eyes open and look alert that my eyes get really severe.

The "Contemplative Stoner Face", for when I belong in Animal House.

The "Don't Wake the Sleeping Giant" face for when I look super annoyed and pissed.

So yeah... maybe I'll try taking the photos the night before, since I usually plan my outfits the night before... but probably not. So now you can play a fun blog game everyday of "Which tired face does Christine have on today???" I guess I could also try that whole "smiling" thing I've heard so much about... I'll take one for you tomorrow, so you can see the fake-ocity of the "Wheee! I Am So Happy About My Teeth Face!"

P.S. I made the switch to Disqus because I feel bad when I can't respond to you if you ask questions or whatever. I promise not to flood your inbox by replying "Thanks!" to everything. But do know that I thank you for visiting my corner of the internet (Yeah, I snagged a corner piece. More frosting.)
