I didn't really put too much thought into today's outfit and it shows. I really love these necklaces but I always forget about them. And they sit there in the closet on a hook, all sad. At least they have a lot of other unworn necklaces to keep them company. They may throw happening parties while I'm at work, who knows?
Sweater - thrifted
Necklaces - Dominican Republic, one is thrifted
Skirt - thrifted Target Sample
Tights - Target
Motorcycle boots - thrifted Colin Stuart
The three on the black yarn are from when I volunteered at an orphanage in the Dominican Republic, (fund-raising, teaching English, herding goats, you know, the usual). The elephant one is a DIY from a really tacky '70s safari necklace.
I need to figure out a way to make these necklaces more wearable... the black yarn is weird to wear, but they don't look right on silver or gold chains.. maybe some sort of beaded situation? Bah, I guess it doesn't matter. They make me happy even if they just hang in the closet.
You could get some waxed cord or maybe leather cord from a craft store to string them on. It would keep the simple black look but be more durable and less fuzzy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the previous poster that a leather cord would look nice.
ReplyDeletei say you go all out and make a huge wooden and fall colors beaded string for them!
ReplyDeletesomething along the lines of these:

I second the leather cord idea, either that or maybe on a rose colored beaded necklace.
ReplyDeleteThe pendants are awesome, though.
welp, i guess it's unanimous. leather cord. also? i love all the pendants paired together. and "herding goats...the usual"? hahahahaha. you're so funny.
ReplyDeletei love outfits like this, though. totally random (in a good way), totally unique, and totally wearable. i think it's fabulous, and, hey, you saved yourself a few brain cells to boot. win-win.

All the necklaces are fab! Ditto the leather cord, check craft stores for the kind you can add a metal clasp to maybe? Love the motoboots, they're a great echo of the brown necklaces.
ReplyDeleteOh We have a lot like that here in the Philippines. I am sure you would love to come and see our stuff here.
ReplyDeleteEverything here is classy and fab
ReplyDeleteI so love your necklaces.
ReplyDeletei love your ideas. The leather cord is very nice...so stylish
ReplyDeleteLove the green on turquoise! I'm going to have to try this color combo!!

Oh man, I loveloveLOVE this! The colors of the outfit, paired with the rad necklaces, are SO cool. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone suggested hemp. I use hemp a lot. You don't have to weave it to make a surfer's/hippy chunky necklace. Just lace one on per length of hemp and tie it off.
ReplyDeleteLook in Walmart or a local craft store. "HEMP" ;)
