The blahs

Blah, blah... another day. Nothing exciting to report. It is below zero, everything is made of ice, etc. I will say that the nerd in me was very thrilled that I got my grocery bill from $67 to $34.50 yesterday because it was double coupon day! I'm not an extreme couponer or anything, I just cut some from the Sunday paper and then try to use them when the products are already on sale that week. As long as I save enough money from coupons to pay for my newspaper subscription, it's worth it. Plus I get to read the paper and do the crossword at work every day! I don't care about magazines in the slightest, but I do insanely love the newspaper.

Last night my friend Megan came over for dinner with Nate and I. I made sour cream enchiladas and jalapeno corn bread muffins. Then we made two kinds of cookies. Megan needed them for a co-worker's going-away party today. We made regular chocolate chip (well, but with dark Ghirardelli chocolate chunks) and some flourless chocolate-chocolate-chocolate cookies which we weren't sure could actually turn into cookies but they did. And they were the richest cookies I've ever had in my life and one bite of them made me want to drink a gallon of water. All around success though! For some reason, all I wanna do is cook and bake lately. I'm excited to make Super Bowl snacks soon!

Photo booth (64) and more camo

Saturday night, I worked the photo booth for a wedding in a gorgeous old library
Glasses - Prada
Dress - Target Go International
Watch - Billabong
Tights - Cynthia Rowley
Wedges - Ralph Lauren

Sunday Nate and I went to an estate sale, made BLTs for brunch and spicy corn chowder for dinner. We attempted to watch the Pro Bowl but it was just too boring, even for football fanatics like us! So we caught up on Modern Family, Parks & Rec, and 30 Rock instead.

Today... I only own two items of clothing that are camouflage but somehow wore them two posts in a row!
Chambray shirt - thrifted newstock Target
Necklace - garage saled by my mom
Bracelet - J.Crew outlet
Jeans - Target
Shoes - Michael Kors

I spent my day off yesterday photographing and listing some vintage on my etsy... click the photo to go to the etsy page! I'll have even more listed on Wednesday night - I have a bunch more photographed, I just have to measure, describe, and list them!

Lipstick to the rescue!

I love that I can wear an oversized men's cardigan and ripped jeans, but as long as I throw on some bright pink lipstick, I don't look like a total schlub. It's magic.

Glasses - Prada
Cardigan - Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply
T-shirt - IDK? The dawn of time itself, most likely.
Jeans - Earnest Sewn
Loafers - thrifted Enzo Angiolini

OMG, I want to do a little jig! It's finally Friday! And I have Monday off from work (it's the end of the semester today so we have Monday off for teachers to grade final exams and figure out everyone's grades for report cards. But luckily I don't have to do any of that so I just get a bonus day off!) Woooooooooo! It's been a LONG and COLD week full of sick kids, the school flooding, and a bunch of other things I'm not even allowed to mention. Ughhhh, I am ready to sleeeeeeeeeeeep in.

Last night was the annual employee party for the photo booth. While the photo frames aren't as cool as the trophy I won last year, I was given the Ms. Dependable award this year...

They only give out six awards total (for about 35 employees) so I can't decide if I'm proud to win both years since I'm so dedicated to my weekend job or if it's pathetic. I told them the Ms. Dependable award should be renamed the "I'm too old and poor to have fun so I don't care if I work every Saturday night award."

Suit yourself

Today... I felt like wearing a suit for some reason but wore it with a cassette tee to keep it less stuffy. I thrifted this blazer and pants years apart but they're the same brand. Accidental suit FTW!

OMG, yesterday was crazy. A ton of kids had fevers and/or puked in my office in the morning. Then a sprinkler pipe burst in our dance studio and we had to evacuate the whole school since the first floor was flooding. All while it was -30 degrees outside (which is probably why the pipe burst in the first place). Luckily we have cool building neighbors who let our students hang out there for an hour and a half while things were repaired and dried out. Nate and I had tattoo appointments in the afternoon. Nate's was about 2/3 of the way done when I arrived after school got out... I'll show you his once it's healed. It was his first tattoo!

Here's mine, it's on the back of my left elbow. I'll show you a better picture once it's healed. The stencil is still kinda smeared around in this one because I'd just uncovered it:

Here's my original drawings...

Photo booth (63) and wolves

Saturday night I worked the photo booth for a corporate holiday party...
Shirt - crazy outlet store (sorry, no brand tag)
Skirt - Zoe. D
Tights - Cynthia Rowley
Wedges - Ralph Lauren

Beaded shoulder detail...

It was -10 out this morning and about -30 with the windchill. I'm wearing tights (and cashmere socks) under these jeans and a second cardigan under the wolf one. It wasn't TOO bad walking to the bus. The only problem is, once the wind hits your face, it makes your eyes water and the tears immediately freeze to the corner of your eyes and it's super painful!
Cardigan - thrifted school uniform, vintage wolf patch added by me
Polo - from when I was a bev cart girl at a golf club
Jeans - Gap
Belt - thrifted
Boots - Rockport

The wolf on the back...
The wolf patch

I had the day off yesterday so I did my taxes, ran a few errands despite the freezing temps, and listed some new vintage pieces... click on the photo to go to the etsy page. Ugh, seeing these just makes me wish it was spring!!!!!!

Insert title here

Necklace - garage sale find from my mom!
Blouse - thrifted vintage aileen
Skirt - thrifted vintage (no tags)
Tights - Cynthia Rowley
Wedges - Ralph Lauren

Since you can't really see the necklace in the outfit photo, here's proof it's there...

My new fave shoes... Am I the only one on Earth who has such a hard time finding a good basic black heel? I needed something plain, with a heel I could wear all day or to photo booth in... two years later I found these! Geez! Everything else I found was suede or had a five inch heel or was covered in chains and studs. It was hard (but I also realize I'm pretty particular about shoes). I had the same problem last year trying to find a black heeled sandal!

Have a fabulous weekend kids! I've got Monday off thanks to the wonder that was Martin Luther King Jr. When I was a kid, we had no school on Columbus Day but we still had school for MLK Jr. Day. I'm glad it's the opposite now. Screw you, Columbus! You didn't "discover" shit!

B & W

This is technically a scarf but it's so huge, I kinda rocked it like a shawl today (I'm an old lady at heart, I guess.)

I was playing around with it this morning. Worn as a scarf... Nora from Two Birds has the same one!

I've got my special needs buddy Daniel tonight. Last week we started a weekly class called "Drums Alive" that he really liked so we're going again this week. I thought it was really fun too but 20+ special needs kids in one room with with drumsticks... I'm taking some ibuprofen before we go as a precautionary measure. Then I'll high-tail it over to Nate's to watch the finale of Project Runway All-Stars. It's not as good as regular Project Runway, but I don't care. I still love it.

Jacket - c/o Jacob
T-shirt - thrifted (by Nate!)
Pants - thrifted Express
Shoes - Sak's Fifth Ave brand

I was so happy when Nate was thrifting last week and called me to see if I wanted this Michael Jackson shirt. Perfect that it's Thriller themed too (I did Thrill the World 3.5 years ago!) I haven't worn my "I Glove MJ" shirt in a while either... I was pretty obsessed with graphic tees in my college years but have gotten away from wearing them since I still look pretty young and don't want to be confused for one of the high schoolers at my work. I'll have to dig a few out and wear them with blazers while it's still cold out!

Last night Nate and I made sushi again and watched the documentary "The Queen of Versailles." It's infuriating and ridiculous and made me want to sell everything I own and adopt a minimalist lifestyle. Regardless, it was good and it's on Netflix instant if you have it.

Tuesday Wednesday

It's Tuesday and I'm dressed like Wednesday (Addams.) I'm pretty sure this is the only peter pan collared thing I own. I've had it forever but I've only worn it once. Then I threw it in the sewing pile. I shortened it about eight inches or so because it was a supremely awkward below-the-knee length.

Dress - thrifted vintage Leslie Fay Petites
Tights - Cynthia Rowley
Wedges - Ralph Lauren

Yesterday I had one of those necessary but stupid nights. The ones where you move EVERYTHING in the kitchen and give it all a good deep scrub and suddenly four hours have gone by. Annoying, especially since my hands are pretty wrecked from washing them and putting on gloves 100 times a day at work already. Oh well, it's sparkly in there now (until I splatter it all in screenprinting ink once again.) I need a studio!

Sweater weather

I wanted to wear this little anchor sweater today but it's short sleeved and only 1 degree outside. So I tossed on a blazer and called it good (don't worry, I wore big boots for my walk to the bus.)

I had an awesome weekend. It's so nice not to work for once! Nate and I hung out with his roommates on Friday night. Saturday we made a pumpkin mousse pie, then went to Megan and John's. We had quite an adventure buying all the ingredients for sushi (it took us an hour and 3 different stores to find everything!) But was soooooo worth it! It's super easy and delicious! We also watched the Packers lose and played Catch Phrase. Sunday Nate and I made home-made biscuits and gravy and ate leftover broccoli, potato and bacon soup. Mmmmm. So basically, all I did this weekend was cook and eat.  And drink wine. Awesome.

Farms and stripes

Cowl - crocheted by me
Sweater - thrifited vintage Kentfield Casuals
Skirt - Target
Tights - Cynthia Rowley
Shoes - Ralph Lauren

This skirt kinda rocks. I'd been needing, well "needing" a navy skirt for quite a while when I found this one on clearance at Target for like $8. I was looking for just a plain navy one but the stripes are fun!

Have a fabulous weekend, internet! I'm NOT working the photo booth for once in my life! So Nate and I are going out for Thai food tonight, tomorrow night we're making sushi with friends and watching football, and Sunday is of course MORE football. There miiiiiiiight also be a trip to the tattoo parlor in there to talk to some artists... Whee! Sorry mom!
