Prairie Home

We're having a bit of a cold snap here in MN and I'm happy about it! Give me 50 degrees in the morning and 60 in the afternoon any time! I've finally got an appointment with an orthopedist tomorrow at 11am, so hopefully I'll finally get some answers on my ankle/leg. My doctor apparently went on vacation for 7 days starting the day after my MRI, and no one else could read the MRI for him (for some insane reason I don't understand.) It's finally feeling slightly better, so I'm hoping I can start walking/biking/wearing heels again soon but we'll see what the specialist says tomorrow.

Glasses - thrifted vintage, lenses replaced
Jean jacket - thrifted Wax Jeans
Dress - thrifted handmade (shortened by me, was nearly floor length)
Sandals - MIA

This dress was floor length and very "Little House on the Prairie" looking, but I loved it once I shortened it. Nate and his roommates just got cable for the first time (I don't have it either) and there is a channel which I once referred to as the Pussy Prairie Channel because I swear all it shows is Little House on the Prairie and Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman. Seriously. That's it. All day. Basically all we watch is baseball games and terrible old horror/action movies so I guess I'm not exactly their demographic. I will wear their dresses, though.

Peachy keen, jellybean

Oxford - Isabella Sinclair
Necklace - J.Crew outlet
Pants - thrifted J.Crew
Shoes - Aerosoles

Yep, I'm wearing my comfiest and most old ladyish shoes today and I don't care. Actually I do care because these pants are a bit long so I always wear them with heels. When is someone gonna figure out a way to have a professional looking hem that you can pin up or leave down depending on what height of shoes you are wearing? Maybe that's why cropped pants are so popular - you don't have to worry about your hems dragging if you decide to wear flats. And if you wear heels, you're already wearing flood pants so who cares?!?

Merit badges

Well, it has now been 7 days since my 2nd doctor appointment and 6 days since my MRI... I have called my doctor seven times to get my MRI set up, to check on my blood test results, to see about getting pain meds, etc. And he has called me back ZERO times. So, I'm in full-on bitch mode this morning and demanding answers as well as a new doctor. We'll see how that works. Despite the ankle pain, the weekend was great. I gave up my photo booth shift since I didn't think standing for 6 hours was a good idea. Otherwise, I went to two BBQs and spent the rest of the time relaxing and keeping my leg up. Being forced to take it easy isn't ideal, but it isn't the worst thing in the world either.

Blazer - thrifted little boys TFW
Pins - thrifted, garage sales, antique shops, etc
Shirt - from when I was a bev cart girl at a golf course
Jean - Gap
Shoes - thrifted Minnetonka Moccasin

Sooo many little pins, badges, and medals...

Also, wearing flats all the time? It's getting old.

A tribute to oxfords

The oxford. The dress shirt. The button-up. The button-down. Etc. Whatever you call it, I am a fan. And until my leg fixes itself (nope, still no MRI results), I'm gonna keep wearing them with maxi skirts and flats.
Oxford - F. by Faconnable (inherited from aunt)
Necklace - thrifted
Skirt - thrifted Z. Cavaricci (altered by me - it was a dress... the top was a black mock turtleneck with long dolman sleeves. No. Just no.)
Sandals - Indeed

I have amassed quite the collection of oxfords and 95% of them are thrifted (as usual)...aaand these are just the traditional, long sleeved ones. They're just so awesome for layering! Over things, under things, and you can wear them all year round! I <3 you, oxford shirts.

My heroes (Nate and this skirt)

Got my first MRI ever yesterday and I'm getting my results back today hopefully! My doctor is not in today but I basically cried and freaked out because I am in somewhere between searing and excruciating pain every time I take a step/move my foot and they have not given me a brace or boot or anything, no crutches, no pain meds, they basically sent me home to just cry every time I have to get out of bed to go to the bathroom (which is the only thing Nate can't do for me). He's has been awesome and brought me to appointments and sat in the waiting room forever, brought me MRI flowers, my favorite candy, dinner, etc. Today I HAD to go back to work so I borrowed some crutches from work once I got here and I'm impatiently waiting for the doctor's office to call.

Soooo, here is today's woe-is-me look:
Oxford - thrifted little boys Cherokee
Skirt - thrifted Ralph Lauren
Sandals - Old Navy

This skirt is always good for days I need to wear flats because it would look weirdly too short with any shoe with some height...

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be doing any Karate Kid style crane kicks for a while...

Oh, and I WILL pick the giveaway winner tonight!! I obviously am no longer accepting entries, but haven't done it yet, so tonight!
